A Systems Modelling Framework enables one to develop a dynamic functioning model of the real system.

Here, a model is a simplified description (representation) of the system or process that still captures the essential behaviour and logic. As a result the model can be used to analyse the behaviours expected in the real system. In the case where the real system has not yet been developed, the model can be used to test the logic and dynamics prior to investing in the development of the full scale system.

Once the simulations perform satisfactorily, the model can be used as a plan for building the full scale system. Alternatively, in the case of software systems, the model can actually be used as a framework (scaffold) to which to add the internal details of the system.
